Product Review/Haul: Zoe 1" Tourmaline Flat Iron
Infrashine flat irons aren't cheap, costing around the same as other high-quality straighteners like GHD and CHI. So, before you part with over 100 dollars you may want to know how the Infrashine 1" straightener compares to other brands and whether it really is worth it's not-so-cheap price tag. Here's the low-down.
Previously known as UNIL flat irons, Infrashine has been re-introduced on the market. The new product line looks really great and the company promises that it's range of irons still deliver the same reliability, features, customer service and beautiful styling results as before.
Presently, there are three sizes available; 1/2, 1 and 2 inch. Of these, the 1" inch is going to be the most popular choice as 1" plates tend to be best suited for most hair lengths and types. So, let's see what you get for your money.
For starters, it really has been nicely designed. It looks good and feels very comfortable to hold. It's been ergonomically designed so that it can be used without making you feel tired. And, it has to be said that it delivers on this; the shape of it fits perfectly into your hand and it weighs only 1.2lbs - substantially lighter than the original 1" CHI flat iron, that weighs 2lbs, and around the same weight as the CHI turbo model.
The Infrashine also has 5 heat settings, ranging from 140 - 400 degrees F. Most other brands come with less heat settings and a narrower temperature range, so it scores well on this point: the CHI Turbo flat iron only has 3 settings.
The plates are made from PTFC (ceramic) heating elements that radiate infrared heat that is designed to penetrate right into your hair to the core, which not only reduces drying time but helps to lock in moisture.
Overall, the Infrashine flat iron is an excellent styling tool and will deliver great results each time it's used. However, it's a shame that the plates, though ceramic, aren't coated in tourmaline. Most quality manufacturers now make straighteners that use tourmaline as it's proven to emit far more negative ions than ceramic - up to 5 times more. The negative ions are great for hair, helping to lock in moisture into each hair shaft, thereby leaving hair even more shiny and healthy looking.
If you're looking for a well-made straightener that does deliver near perfect results then you should definitely consider buying an Infrashine flat iron. It perhaps lacks some of the latest technical advances such as tourmaline and nano-silver but it rates very well against other brands such as Solia, GHD, T3 and CHI flat irons. Most women, who own one, would never use any other brand.
